Is It Possible To Knock Someone Out With A Karate/Jujutsu Chop To The Neck Or A Punch To The Body?

The target is the "Carotid Sinus" where there are "barorecepters" that regulate blood pressure!

It's not shocking the vegus nerve, it doesn't cut off blood flow to the brain, it's not a brachial stun and it's not mystical either. . .

the barorecepters within the carotid sinus are tricked by the trauma into believing the sudden influx of pressure upon the area is due to increased blood pressure so the baroreceptors response is to send signal to quickly lower blood pressure.

Since it was tricked and B.P. wasn't high the sudden drop in B.P. results in unconsciousness.

What these practitioners also don't medically understand is that this can be fatal in someone w/a pre-existing or undiagnosed heart condition! So demonstrating or practicing on students is irresponsible ego masturbation. Many pseudo-experts teach dangerous unarmed combat attacks, overconfidently, incorrectly, believing they understand what they're doing but lacking the advanced medical education to correctly understand what's actually taking place.

WWII SOE female agent Nancy Wake killed a Nazi by striking him here w/a backhanded edge of palm chop. It was the ONLY unarmed combat kill of the war CONFIRMED by the War Department. Pseudo-masters risk prison by curiously, selfishly, experimenting on some trusting victim. Low blood pressure can be fatal, if the recipient has a pre-existing weakness or is over 40 yrs old.

Also dislodging arterial plaque in the carotid artery by striking or strangling the neck can lead to a stroke.

By punching the “stomach”? No there's no medical possibility of driving a fist into the stomach bag to create knockout however into the abdomen or front of the torso, which may be your meaning, it's possible to knock a man out (not all knockouts result in unconsciousness. See: TKO, technical knockout) by knuckle punching the liver or the solar-plexus which was refered to as “the mark” by old time boxers and pugilists. This is where the English term derives from in saying, “Hit the mark” or “missed the mark”. The mark was the primary target for knockout in historical bareknuckle pugilism and later bareknuckle fisticuffs boxing. Bareknuckle Pancrase fighter Bas Rutten made a career knocking out opponents with bareknuckle punches to the liver and solar plexus. Many old time boxers did before the invention of television. With enough power and accuracy a punch to the spleen can also result in a T.K.O. or K.O. but per chance may also result in death just as a liver punch can if the recipient has an underlying medical issue. The escape artist Harry Houdini died from a punch to his abdomen when his appendex burst. There's also a chance of death when you use violence of any kind on a human being. Criminal courts will hold you responsible for causing any accidental death, sometimes even if you acted in self defense, and in prison you'll get to advance your gladitorial education….if you survive. To destroy is easy but to create is power.

Drew

What Are The Benefits of Learning Judo vs. Boxing?

What are the benefits of learning judo versus boxing?
Profile photo for An Drew

U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt was a competitive boxer, til boxing cost him his vision in his left eye, a competitive wrestler and a Judoka. Roosevelt wrote in a letter to his son that he believed Judo to be the best art for unarmed combat defense/self-defense.

Kodokan Judo has the advantage of training standing grappling, tachiwaza, and ground grappling, newaza, as well as giving one more options in a civil self defense altercation where it would legally behoove you to minimize the amount of damage you inflict upon another human being. Popular believe is that there are no rules in a street defense situation and that is true for the criminal but for the law abiding citizen or the law abiding police officer whom doesn't wish to risk going to prison for accidentally killing a man in a scuffle the laws that govern self defense must be observed.

Given the option of chin checking a drunk bully and risking him busting his skull on pavement after he falls from the jab-cross boxing combo or controlling his fall as I sweep him off his feet so he doesn't hit his head and then place him in a scarf hold or render him unconscious from a vascular neck restraint using Judo, which art provides me with safer options that will both allow me to effectively defend myself while minimizing injury to my attacker?

Which art provides me the options of restraining my attacker, disabling my attacker, crippling my attacker or killing my attacker, based upon the needs of the situation?

Boxing, despite being an outstanding art, only provides me with tools to evade injury or to knock an aggressor down with strikes.

Judo gives me many more options which can be modified to protect both myself & the aggressor, keeping me out of prison (in a civilian or police altercation), or modified to kill my attacker should situation require such a life changing response (as in military combat). Judo gives me many more options.

Lastly, Judo doesn't jeopardize one's hands with threat of life changing mechanical injuries the way boxing does when applied without reinforced hand and wrist protection.

Which Grappling Art Is Better To Train: Kodokan Judo or BJJ?

Which grappling martial art would be better to train, Judo or BJJ?
Profile photo for An Drew

It depends upon the purpose. Context is everything.

For competitive one vs one sport dueling, BJJ has been proven to be the better of the two.

For women's self defense, which often involves spousal abuse, date rape and car jacking, between BJJ or Judo, a woman's better training in BJJ for the ‘unarmed' combat defense portion of her arsenal. (This question wasn't asking about self-defense so we're not addressing more important training such as awareness, counter-surveillance, understanding criminal tactics, tactical shooting, concealed carry firearms, edge weapons, O.C. spray, etc.etc.)

For males, unarmed hand to hand combat for self-defense, law enforcement, night club bouncers, security guards, where threat of multiple attackers is more common as a male, then definitely Judo is the better choice.

Statistically females are more likely to be assaulted by a lone male predator and more often by a male whom they know. Albeit there are numerous exceptions to the rule.

Statistically males whom are attacked without provocation, or whom work in high risk professions, are more likely to encounter multiple male attackers. In my experiences growing up in ghetto areas, living in non-permissive environments, serving in the Infantry, having lived around gangs, surviving jail and the penitentiary, I've rarely had the luxery of facing only one adversary outside the sporting ring. Even the altercations that began as one vs one quickly escalated to multiple attackers once things didn't go their way. Human males are tribalistic by nature and when facing a male of a different ethnicity/race, different family, different Infantry company, different platoon, different military branch, different demographic or anyone gang related, best believe it's not gonna remain one vs one even if it begins that way. Just like chimps, human males band together or often empathize more with their own. The world's not as homogeneous as many like to imagine it to be and humans will always harbor prejudices. It may be different in upper class, white collar, areas where wealthier people live (maybe) but I've never experienced that. I have experienced blue collar areas and below the poverty line to which it's understood you're not getting a fair one. And the cowards always run in packs. Gangs always run in packs. Violent young men often run together. Violent bigots often run together. Real life isn't like a BJJ match or vale tudo match where one can hold down an opponent til they gas out then start working for positions & submissions. Real life is more like a Judo match, where a man better take the adversary down, fast and hard. And if one happens to fall to the ground either quickly snap a limb and get back to the feet or instantly get off the ground and get back to one's feet. Mobility saves lives and being on the ground is where men die in real combat outside of a competitive sporting duel.

In prison, as a man, I never once wanted to use my Gracie Combatives training. Not once. I did use Judo tachiwaza, osoto gari, ashiwaza, te garuma, standing chokes, (as well as modified western boxing, keith fain wing tsun kunfa, krav maga global weapon defense and improvised weapons). But strictly between Judo & BJJ, I never wanted to use BJJ while in jail or prison. I did want to stay on my feet or get up immediately if I ever hit the floor.

For men, unarmed combat defense, Judo. For women, unarmed combat defense, BJJ newaza.

Stockholme Syndrome Of America

 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Syphilis_Study

We read about government criminality and treason against the constitution which is readily available to the public, often years after the statute of limitation, so to speak, has passed. They don't say in Wikipedia concerning the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments, but whistleblowers came forward admitting some of the men were injected with syphilis without their knowledge during these expirements.

But this is only one of the incidents of U.S. government abusing & killing citizens. And performing medical experiments on the unsuspecting. The military does the same thing to unsuspecting troops. Most aren't educated on the government programs as recently as the late 70s and early 80s when Indigenous American females were sterilized against their knowledge and will while visiting government medical clinics. Or state & federal government human trafficking programs where Indigenous parents in the U.S. were told their baby died but in fact was sold on the black market through adoption agencies whom later claimed "fire" destroyed their records when inquiries and private investigations were made. These stolen children are known as Lost Birds in some Indigenous communities.

We often dismiss the U.S. government's criminality by saying, "That's in the past. They don't do that anymore. Let it go. Move on. Live in the moment."
Then when they're exposed for another crime, we quickly forget and in a couple years we say, "That's in the past, let it go, they're not doing that anymore." As we wave their flag and vote for their parties filled with gangsters & marxists & globalists. Enemies to the Constitution we swore to defend & protect from enemies both foreign AND domestic.

If we treated the U.S. Government as we treat & judge individuals, we'd look at Uncle Sam's juvenile record and his adult record and we'd find that from the beginning until the present he's been guilty of AntiConstitutional crimes with a criminal record that extends from today, right now, to his early childhood. Yet he's never been indicted, never been brought to justice and we make excuses for him by always trying to say, "Well noone's innocent. Everyone's guilty of something and others (governments) are just as bad if not worse."
Imagine if individuals could excuse our wrong doings and crimes this way, by saying, well I'm not the only one and others have done the same or much worse. Wow. But we accept this excuse from a government that we'd never accept from each other.

Imagine if I could murder a white person or black person to steal whatever is their's and when caught I said, "Well their ancestors have done the same things and worse to my ancestors. Even recently. So let's forget about this and just move on." Would that be an acceptible excuse? Surely not. Yet many make this excuse daily concerning the U.S. Government and other governments. State & Federal.

Many speak of Uncle Sam's criminal history as if it were a sealed juvenile record and he's turned over a new leaf once he built his empire on the profits of his juvenile gangster career. A gangster whose now gone legit, so to speak, and is the pillar of the community.

Yet whistle blowers have came forward consistantly since his juvenile gangster career up until today, this very moment, and we either dismiss them or they disappear, they're found suicided (Clinton's witnesses), die of sudden heart attacks (dymetholphynol), they're arrested (wikileaks) or they are declared traitors to the government (not to the constitution) and must flee in exile to a foreign country for protection (Snowden).

And we continue to wave our flags and vote for the next gangster whom makes the same tired promises, giving our tax dollars to make them millionaires while blaming disabled people & disenfranchized for stealing our tax dollars, the poor becoming the government's scape goats once again, and we quickly dismiss or willfully forget the continual unconstitutional crimes of the government. Like good stockholme syndrome children.

And the machinating government cleverly hides his current crimes by constantly bringing up his old crimes that are beyond the statute of limitations, getting people emotionally invested in crimes that the government knows he can no longer be prosecuted for but is a clever distraction from the recent & current crimes which can be dealt with if only we'd stop being so easily distracted and emotionally manipulated.

We're dealing with a clever serial killer, serial robber, serial thief, serial criminal, a super-gangster among super-gangsters. And all over the world we the people believe more government is the answer to all our problems. More super-gangster intervention.

Government politicians so easily buy us off by offering us a few dollars, a government check, some program money (bribes) and in return demand our loyalty much like a mafia boss. We're so easily bought by temporal money while they steal more of our land, more of our Constitutional Rights and impose upon us higher taxes, raise the cost of living, raise the cost of fuel, put more weight upon our neck, increase our burdens but they're such nice guys cause they speak so eloquently while they're at it and they give us free swag. It feels like we're receiving pretty glass beads in exchange for our country, our freedoms and our future whenever we support political puppets whom promise us free stuff, more swag, the same tired promises while they play to our emotional triggers of their historical crimes to distract us from their current crimes.

This well dressed, eloquently spoken, educated, promise making, gangster (uncle sam) knows he can charm his peasant masses and manipulate their emotional triggers at will, through his government controlled propoganda machine (news media and television stations) to program us with what to think, what to believe, what to disbelieve and ultimately confuse us into not knowing what to believe is real anymore. . . This is called gas-lighting. Emotional, Psychological, Abuse. Played on a grand scale. It's also both Globalist & Marxist psychological operations.

If uncle sam were an individual the people would have tried & convicted him by now. But since he's a government, corporate, entity we give him a pass and make excuses for his continual criminality.

He hides his Anti-Constitutional, Globalist, face and Marxist hands behind a facade of Constitutional freedom. Playing divide & conquer games via race baiting, marxist psy-ops and petty bribery.

Shhhh, you're only dreaming, go back to sleep and uncle sam will bring you lots of presents in the morning.

DAITO RYU AIKI-JUJUTSU?

Daito Ryu, criticized by MMA combat sports enthusiasts, is the empty hand combatives art of Feudal Japan's palace guards. Visitors had to disarm to enter the palace court thus any enemy would have to overpower the armed guard to acquire weapons to attack the court.
Daito Ryu responses are tailored for weapon retention, responses to very strong grabs and holds, which would be employed to prevent a guard from drawing his blade, while other enemy would disarm the guard.  Assassins would also seek to disarm a court guard in order to procure a lethal weapon to carry out an assassination of a high level target.
Thus all grabs and holds are done w/a death grip during training, under the idea the defender is armed w/wakazashi sword and tanto dagger and if he's not held w/total strength he'll deploy a weapon to cut down the attacker. This is why many Daito Ryu responses are to wrist and arm grabs, as well as bear hugs, shoulder grabs, grabs towards the belt where weapons are carried.
Additionally, the finishing strike w/shout is shown as an empty hand kill but to practitioners it's understood that this simulates drawing the tanto dagger or wakazashi short sword to deliver the killing blow to the attacker.
It's not an art designed for unarmed or disarmed warriors/knights on the battlefield, nor civilian empty hand dueling. It's specifically created for armed samurai knights assigned as indoor palace guards whom carried weapons & members of the court whom carried a tanto dagger.   Think of a modern court bailiff who carries a pistol in court while visitors must all disarm, thus any intent to attack the judge must over power & disarm the bailiff of his weapon to use it against the judge.
So Daito Ryu is an effective art created for such a scenario. Very effective for police, law enforcement, anyone whom carries a weapon concerned w/weapon retention & counter-abduction in a combative situation.
I explain this because very few uninitiated understand what's being demonstrated when they see Daito Ryu. So they claim it's w/out merit in an MMA cage, grappling match or fist fight. It's purpose is NOT unarmed dueling.
It's extremely effective for it's designed purposes.
To the uninitiated observer many of the very subtle biomechanics of Daito Ryu are indiscernable thus provoking onlookers to slander the art as fake or bullshido.   However, anyone whom has felt the  crippling effects of Daito Ryu will testify to the incredible power which comes from the science behind this weapons based combative art.
Simply put, one must 'feel' Daito Ryu to understand it's power for it's imperceivable by visual observation.
Another misunderstanding the unitiated can not see by observation is the subtle application of Kuzushi within Daito Ryu which proceeds all throws, takedowns and many controlling joint or spinal locks that finish w/the defender deploying their weapon to deliver the killing stroke. Again, this form of kuzushi applied in Daito Ryu  must be 'felt' in order to be understood for it can not be seen overtly by observation. It is an extremely subtle and scientific art of weapon retention and countering limb detention, as well as other skills specific to the area of operation for which it was developed and refined.
Every combat art, just like every tool in a tool box, every weapon in an arsenal, has it's specific job related function. It's ignorance which possesses men to judge every tool, every weapon, by the same standard operating proceedure.
A military tank is very good for the purpose it was designed. As is an AH64 attack helicopter, an M24 system sniper rifle and a TOW 2BRAVO missile.
It would be ignorant to argue which is better, the tank, the AH64, the M24 system or the TOW 2bravo missile given they each are created for an important, specific, application on the battlefield.
And so it's just as ignorant to judge which art is better between a weapon retention art, a ground submission art, a body slamming art, a striking art, a bolo machete art, a shield and spear art or a mounted archery art. Context is everything, placing  their value within the context of intended purpose and application. 'Context changes everything', therefore it's unwise to judge a hammer by how well it can perform within the context of a wrench. It's unwise to also  judge an unarmed combat sport and an unarmed civilian dueling art by the same  context of a weapons based military art.
Context is everything. And regardless of one's grappling or boxing experience, the subtle science of Daito Ryu must be 'felt' to be understand, for the mere observation of it's applications appears incredible to the uninitiated. And the secret to it's subtle power against fully resistant attackers lies both in the proper application of kuzushi and the biomechanical locking of the spine and joints once kuzushi has stolen the structural balance of the resistant attacker.
In closing, it's crucial to understand for the competitive unarmed grappler, unarmed duelists and combat sportsman, whom presumes that noone ever holds the wrists or arms, in a fully committed, unyeilding, death grip, that Daito Ryu was created for men carrying bladed weapons.
When grappling such an armed individual, whom may quickly draw a wakazashi short sword or tanto dagger from their waist and end your life very quickly, it's incumbent to secure the hands or arms first, to prevent their deploying a lethal weapon and ending your life.
Thus Daito Ryu was born from this reality, far from the competitive, unarmed, combat sporting arenas of today. Born in a realm where one or two swords plus a tanto dagger were carried in one's waist band and your attacker's were intent upon either grabbing you weapon to use against you or seizing, holding, you while another relieved you of your weapon and cut you down by your own blade. This is the world from which Daito Ryu was born.
Daito Ryu is as much bullshido to modern unarmed combat sportsmen as today's modern unarmed combat sports would be considered bullshido to Feudal Japan's samurai, whose view of combat was a life or death, weapon based, endeavor.

Open Borders and Racist Immigration Laws?

~If illegal immigration is what nearly whiped out our Indigenous ancestors why would we think that promoting illegal immigration will somehow reverse the wrongs that were done and everything will work out just fine?

~When the over population of mass immigration due to taking in the planets' immigrants, assylum seekers, refugees, jihadis, criminal cartels and fugitives creates another land grab, whose land will be up for grabs?

~It will be like before, like always, when they'll sieze tribal lands to make room for the over population of 'illegal' immigrants.

~That's what goes through my mind when I hear or see our people defending illegal immigration and calling border security racism.

~All I see is the loss of more tribal lands and the further marginalization of Indigenous Americans. The destruction of tribal communities. And the further loss of language and culture that stems from these things...That's what I see when our relatives promote multiculturalism, open borders and illegal immigration.

~And it breaks my heart that they can't see it. Too often we participate in our own destruction due to lack of foresight.

~Every single country on this planet has immigration laws and they're put into place for many reasons, including national security, disease control, over population control, distribution and protection of natural resources and many other reasons that would require an essay to address.

~Yet none of these other countries are branded as 'bigots' or 'racists' for maintaining border security and enforcing their immigration laws.

~Please think about these things for a moment.

Peace be with you,
AnDrew

***Self Defense, Exhibition or Combat Sport***

~In boxing we train to defend against another boxer. In karate or kickboxing we train to defend against a karateka or kick boxer. In Judo or wrestling we train to defend against another Judoka or wrestler. Even in competitive MMA one trains to defend against another MMA competitor.

~These are all fine in the realm of competitive sport and there are certainly some fine things in every sport that may sometimes be useful in 'unarmed' self-defense. But does this really qualify a competitive combat-sportsman as a self-defense expert? Does this qualify a martial artist as a self-defense expert? Does this qualify a professional ring fighter as a self-defense expert or military close-combat expert?

~In traditional martial arts it long ago became necessary to play to the dramatic and visually impressive stunts in order to attract public interest and bring in students. We see this quite often in the Asian martial arts. So much so that today much of these dramatic techniques meant for public performance are still taught as curriculum for self-defense.

~The truth concerning 'self-defense' as it relates only to unarmed and armed 'close-combat' is that IF one is not actively training against 'practical' attacks, from both trained and untrained attackers, as well as against criminal tactics, than are you really training for close-combat self-defense?

~If one is a RBSD instructor but doesn't understand criminal tactics or understand that there are indeed criminals with MMA, boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling and military combatives training so you only approach close-combat-self-defense from the perspective that you're going to defend against jabs and hay-makers from untrained criminals or violent attackers than your training to fail.

~If you're a sport based martial artist and only training oneself or one's students to defend against other sport-based martial artists, without any understanding of criminal tactics, that is absolutely fine but do not market your training as self-defense just to bring in more paying 'customers'. Because they're not really your students when one operates in deceit, but rather they're just customers. Which makes one a businessman more than a teacher.

~If you're a traditional martial artist but are teaching frivolous, impractical, defenses against both armed and unarmed attackers without any understanding of how modern criminals, street thugs (some whom are well trained and experienced) and violent gangs operate than one's curriculum either needs to evolve for modern close-combat self-defense or one shouldn't promote themselves and their art as a self-defense martial art.

~If tradition is more important than the safety and effectiveness of one's students than one is hardly teaching 'self-defense' martial art. One should be honest with both oneself and one's students. After all, we call some things traditional without understanding there were public performance displays incorporated into the founders' curriculums long ago. If they relied upon their art for income than most assuredly they had to play to the crowds and dabble in the dark arts of the charlatan.

~Whatever you're teaching or devoting your life and income to study/train understand the reality of what you're doing and why. If you're learning or teaching knife defenses would you be confident in using your techniques this moment against a muscular, strong, power lifter with a sharp dagger or against a strong, adrenalized, large, male, Jihadi with a box-cutter? What about two of them?

~Would you be confident in using your punch defenses against a stronger, larger, athletic, thug whom trained in competitive boxing his whole youth? Could you use your curriculum to defend against 'two' of them?

~Ponder these questions daily and meditate upon them, because they may change everything about what one does or how one does it. One may find that they're engaging in training for 'sport', for ego-masturbation, to earn rank and receive the prestige within their club (perhaps cult) or merely to become a successful business man whose interest is in money!

~If any of these are the case than own that, accept that and be at peace with that...But know in one's heart that it's not about close-combat, self-defense or surviving modern criminal violence.
